{history}

Leadership Renewal Center, Inc. was founded in California in 1988 as a 501(c)(3) ministry to leadership couples out of a desire to encourage ministers and their spouses in a retreat setting. During the years following graduation from seminary, Ted and Linda Pampeyan visited hundreds of churches across the United States talking with pastoral couples, hearing their stories and learning about their joys and hurts.

The Pampeyans are natives of Southern California. After Ted served as coordinator of adult ministries at Forest Home Christian Conference Center in California, he and Linda hosted LRC retreats in the Ironwood Country Club in Palm Desert. In 1992, the Pampeyans moved to Victoria, British Columbia, where they went through their church’s collapse while Ted served as one of the pastors. After that difficult pastorate in which they learned the language of pastors under severe duress, they gradually became active members of a healing church where Ted eventually became chair of the elders and Linda was part of the lay leadership team.

In 1995, better equipped to understand the needs of the church leaders, Ted and Linda reintroduced the retreat ministry of Leadership Renewal Center in Victoria. In June, 2003, they moved to Whidbey Island, Washington to become more strategically located for the retreat guests of Leadership Renewal Center. Then in 2006, they relocated in an unexpected move to Chowchilla, a small town in Central California, in order to be closer to Ted’s 95-year-old dad.

The focus of this ministry is to encourage and build up today's Christian leaders. We help them improve their effectiveness by assisting them to rediscover and redefine their personal vision and mission. God’s Spirit brings about authentic change in lives and relationships in this safe place.
